Hello everyone!!
Quick evening post and then we are going to just relax and watch our little man the rest of the evening. :) I imagine it will be a late night as both of us are anxiously watching his numbers and his first night off of ECMO is a big deal. :) Since the last post, Jackson is doing well. He is still on a respirator, which means the machines are still helping him breathe, but the oxygen level that they are giving him is at 30% which is good for a baby having just come off of ECMO. The lower oxygen rate means they're having to give him less oxygen because it is passing so well into his bloodstream through the lungs. This indicates that the inflammation and blockage in his lungs has cleared dramatically.
We still have several hurdles to overcome, including him eventually coming off of the respirator completely as well as him continuing to fight the infection he is still dealing with. He's still recovering from his paralyzed state. Once he wakes up and recovers from his paralysis, we will have a better idea of what he can do on his own versus what the machines are doing for him.
I imagine we will be moving out of the ECMO room at some point- into our own little "pod" as they call them here. Right now we're kind of in an isolated room with glass sliding doors... and will probably be moving out into our own little "cubby" or "pod" where Jackson will only have one nurse monitoring him. And hopefully soon we will get to take a more active role in taking care of him. I've been changing his diaper more, which is a little freaky with all of the wires :) but I love it nonetheless! Who would've thought! And who would have thought I would be so excited to see a poopy diaper someday or look forward to hearing him cry. :) But we are anxiously awaiting the day we can hear him cry!
Anyway, we love you all...please continue to pray for the little man- we're not out of the woods yet and we will keep you posted on how things are going. Thank you for all that you have done- we have no doubt God is doing amazing things here and we pray that everything done will be for His glory. Love to all!!

Sweet answers to prayer for the sweet boy! I'm praying for the two of you too. I'm praying that you would continue to know and believe the depths of God's love for you! It is deep!!!

What cause for rejoicing. We celebrate the wonderful work our Lord is doing in Jackson's life. This is the verse we have been lifting up for you these past difficult days:
"For the Lord your God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17
We ask Him to continue to provide all that each of you need.
